Bummer. We are big Adam Ant fans so this news pretty much saddens us. Ant has decided to call off his proposed book project. The decision was due to low interest from fans, making the cost of the project unworthy of the time and production needed.
A note was posted on Ant's official website stating -
We’re sorry for the disappointment felt by the few of you who have
expressed an interest in obtaining copies of Adam Ant Art, but sadly
there are just not enough of you to make it possible.
Producing
a book of the scope and size of Adam Ant Art is expensive, and has
become more so since the ‘credit crunch’ has ramped up the price of
paper, shipping and distribution in recent weeks. Before any book is
undertaken there are costings to be made which are dependent upon the
size of the print run and sale cost of the book. It has to make
financial sense before such a big and expensive project as AAA is
begun. Unfortunately the number of people registering an interest in
the book has not come close to matching the minimum print numbers.
The
only way that it might be possible to create the book would be to
charge a very large price for it from buyers, which is not something
that Adam wants to do. Please note that the book was to be produced by
Adam himself and was not being prepared with any publisher. The
publishers of Adam’s autobiography, Macmillan, have no interest in
publishing AAA, neither does any other major publishing house, because
they do not believe that it will sell enough copies to make it
financially viable for them.
As
we have always said, ‘in order to proceed we need to confirm a certain
level of interest’ and that simply hasn’t been reached. The idea may be
raised again in the future if and when things change. Once again,
apologies for your disappointment.

Maybe this is a perfect time to hit the road for some touring?
