Peter Buck checks into Q104.3's show "Out Of The Box"

REMPeter R.E.M.'s Peter Buck called into New York's Q104.3 for a nice little interview.

Buck discusses the band and NYC, his infamous vinyl collection, IRS Records, the new record and more.

He also talks about his 200, yes 200, guitars!

Listen in online here

Accelerate is still in our heavy rotation.  It really has staying power and recaptures that classic R.E.M. vibe the world had been missing the last decade or so.

Thanks guys!

Random video of the week #12 - Bjork "Human Behavior"

Michael Gondry's video for Bjork's Human Behavior still remains one of our favorites.

Where Bjork is in this video has to be the coolest forest ever.  It's somewhere we want to book a trip to pronto.  It sort of sets up a visual of what one would expect the "magical" side of Iceland to be - even though the reality is probably much different.

Come on...Giant moths, a driving bear, a little porcupine, Bjork in space, Bjork in the river, Bjork flying through the sky.

It is one of the best visual feasts we can remember indulging in when it comes to the music video world.

Human Behavior also stands as one of our favorite all time Bjork songs.  She has yet to top her debut record Debut in our opinion.

Let's relive shall we?

Adam Ant art book called off...

AdamAntVideo Bummer.  We are big Adam Ant fans so this news pretty much saddens us.  Ant has decided to call off his proposed book project.  The decision was due to low interest from fans, making the cost of the project unworthy of the time and production needed.

A note was posted on Ant's official website stating -

We’re sorry for the disappointment felt by the few of you who have expressed an interest in obtaining copies of Adam Ant Art, but sadly there are just not enough of you to make it possible.

Producing a book of the scope and size of Adam Ant Art is expensive, and has become more so since the ‘credit crunch’ has ramped up the price of paper, shipping and distribution in recent weeks. Before any book is undertaken there are costings to be made which are dependent upon the size of the print run and sale cost of the book. It has to make financial sense before such a big and expensive project as AAA is begun. Unfortunately the number of people registering an interest in the book has not come close to matching the minimum print numbers.

The only way that it might be possible to create the book would be to charge a very large price for it from buyers, which is not something that Adam wants to do. Please note that the book was to be produced by Adam himself and was not being prepared with any publisher. The publishers of Adam’s autobiography, Macmillan, have no interest in publishing AAA, neither does any other major publishing house, because they do not believe that it will sell enough copies to make it financially viable for them.

As we have always said, ‘in order to proceed we need to confirm a certain level of interest’ and that simply hasn’t been reached. The idea may be raised again in the future if and when things change. Once again, apologies for your disappointment.

For full details on the proposed book see our post - Adam Ant Working On A New Book?

Maybe this is a perfect time to hit the road for some touring?

Billy Idol previews new track "John Wayne"

BillyIdol Who? Mr. Billy Idol, the master of the sneering lip and friend to peroxide.

What?  An upcoming greatest hits collection titled The Very Best Of Billy Idol: Idoloize Yourself featuring two new tracks - John Wayne and New Future Weapon.  The deluxe edition will feature a bonus DVD of thirteen Idol videos including two cuts never before seen - Hot In The City (uncensored version) and the "Billy Idol only" extended version of Cradle Of Love.  Odd...guess they must have cut the girl out completely?

When?  June 24th

Why? Because Idol F'in rocks.  I still remember seeing him way back in the day in San Francisco with Faith No MoreIdol opened his set with a huge mechanical fist.  The fist sat over the stage and spun upside down.  The middle finger proceeded to lift up and flip off the audience.  Shortly after, Idol emerged from the fist and performed the opening song (which escapes me) on the now flattened out middle finger.

Random video of the week #11 - Nitzer Ebb "Control I'm Here"

We don't mess around when it comes to our favorite EBM band of all time - Nitzer Ebb.  We had a serious fascination with the band back in the day (mid-80's into the 90's) and it lives on today. Nitzer Ebb set the soundtrack to our life at the time.

2008 brings the promise of a new album which may easily get pushed to 2009.  Hopefully fans will see the release of the band's live DVD shot on their reunion tour of 2006.  The guys (Bon Harris and Douglas McCarthy) are taking their sweet time but it is cool - we just want them back in the scene the right way.  If it takes them a couple years to write and record the perfect comeback record, then so be it.  There is plenty of classic material to enjoy in the meantime.

A little Control I'm Here from 1989's Belief perhaps?

Random video of the week #10 - Peter Murphy "Cuts You Up"

In celebration of the upcoming Peter Murphy show in Anaheim on Tuesday, we are paying tribute to the grandfather of goth with this week's random video pick.

Rumor has it he will be playing a good selection of solo material mixed with select Bauhaus tracks. The tour is called "Retrospective" after all.   Murphy kicked it all off two nights ago in Seattle.  The second night (in Portland) was abruptly canceled with no reason given.  Let's hope he is back on track for his San Francisco appearance tomorrow night at the Regency Theater.   We will be checking out to his Anaheim stop at the House Of Blues.  Yep, trekking it down behind the Orange Curtain. Wonder if he will play anything from the recent Bauhaus album Go Away White?  Fingers crossed for solo tracks Indigo Eyes and All Night Long

How insane would it be if he busted out a Dali's Car tune!?!

Cuts You Up is taken from Murphy's 1990 album Deep.  The track stands as his most commercial to date -
